OUR STORY
Why We Built This
A Royal Navy veteran watched a Netflix documentary about Tim Miller — a father who spent years searching for his missing daughter in Texas, then went on to found one of the largest volunteer search and rescue organisations in the world.
He was moved enough to act. He spent two years building the safety platform he wished existed.
Not for profit. Not for an exit. Because the technology to do this existed and nobody had built it for the people who needed it most.
That platform is Nexus.
WHY IT MATTERS
The Problem
We live in a connected world — but connection isn't always guaranteed.
Mobile networks can fail in remote areas. Disasters disrupt infrastructure. Emergencies happen in places and moments where help feels out of reach. And when that happens, the apps we rely on go quiet at exactly the wrong time.
When someone goes missing, families often find themselves waiting — for systems to activate, for approvals, for someone to make the call. That waiting is painful. It shouldn't be the only option.
For staff working alone in venues, hotels or on site, asking for help isn't always straightforward. Sometimes discretion matters. Sometimes there simply isn't time.
We believed there was a better way. So we built it.
WHAT NEXUS DOES
The Solution
Nexus is a safety app. But not like any you've used before.
Most safety apps stop working the moment your signal drops. Nexus doesn't. It connects to the phones of people around you — silently, automatically, without anyone doing anything — and uses that connection to get your emergency signal out. No signal needed. It just works.
When you set up Nexus you choose two people you trust — family, a friend, a partner. The moment you trigger an alert, both of them are notified instantly with your live location. They don't need to be nearby. They don't need to be on the app. They just need to be the people who would drop everything for you.
Because in an emergency the first people you want knowing about it aren't strangers. They're the people who love you.
When you trigger an alert, three things happen at once. Your two nominated contacts are notified instantly with your live location. Everyone in your vicinity with Nexus is alerted through the network. And if you're at a registered venue, the owner or manager receives a WhatsApp alert immediately — so help can reach you from every direction at once.
For families with a missing loved one, Rapid Alert puts the power in your hands. One submission broadcasts instantly across Facebook, Instagram, X and the Nexus network. No waiting. No forms. No system to navigate.
For venues, hotels and organisations, Nexus gives managers a simple dashboard where they can see their staff, respond to alerts and coordinate in an emergency — all from their phone.
And for everyone else? It's completely free. Always has been. Always will be.
OUR PROMISE
The Mission
Nexus is free for everyone. Forever.
No subscriptions for personal safety. No data sold. No advertising. No tracking. You are never the product.
Search and rescue teams get the full command console free forever — because they shouldn't have to fundraise to find missing people.
Rapid Alert is $1 a month — not for profit, but to verify that anyone broadcasting details of a missing child or vulnerable person is who they say they are. Accountable. Responsible. Because the people on our network deserve that protection. And if we're being honest — it does help keep the lights on too.
Venues and organisations pay for the command console. That is what funds everything else.
Simple. Honest. The way it should be.
